Broncos DL Shelby Harris supports Nikola Jokić's NBA MVP bid

Serbian center Nikola Jokić helped the Denver Nuggets claim the No. 3 seed in the NBA’s Western Conference this season, and he’s now a strong candidate — and perhaps the favorite — for the MVP award.

Denver Broncos defensive lineman Shelby Harris took to Twitter earlier this week to throw his support behind Jokić’s MVP candidacy.

Harris isn’t alone in his stance.

USA TODAY’s Jeff Zillgitt, Mark Medina and Matt Eppers recently published their list of NBA award picks for the 2021 season and Jokić was the unanimous choice for MVP. Here’s what Zillgitt had to say about the Nuggets’ star:

Nikola Jokic led the league in double-doubles (55) and player efficiency (31.28, top-10 all-time) and was top-15 in five other categories – No. 2 in triple-doubles (15), seventh in assists per game (8.7), ninth in rebounds per game (10.9), 10th in points per game (26.2) and 14th in steals per game (1.4).

Jokić and the Nuggets will open the playoffs at home against the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday evening. It’s probably safe to assume Peyton Manning will be in attendance. Manning still lives in the Denver area and he attended the Colorado Avalanche’s win over the St. Louis Blues in the NHL Playoffs on Wednesday evening.
